What Wix actually lets you take with you
Less than any other major builder. Wix's own documentation is direct about it: sites built on Wix are hosted on Wix and cannot be exported or transferred elsewhere. In practice, here is the full list of what you can get out:
- Blog post text, pulled through an RSS feed
- Images and files you originally uploaded
That's it. Your page layouts, your design, your fonts, your menus, and anything built with Wix's own tools stay behind. There is no download button for your website, because the website you're paying for is welded to the platform. The only way to leave with your site intact is to rebuild it, which is exactly what we do.
What staying on Wix costs

Two catches worth knowing. Advertised prices are usually first-term promotions that renew at the regular, higher rate. And the "free domain" covers year one only; from year two, Wix charges roughly $15 to $20 a year to renew it. On the Core plan, five years of Wix is about $1,740, and that assumes prices never rise. We switch your domain, then you cancel Wix
We point your domain at the new site, set up the security certificate, and redirect your old page addresses so Google rankings carry over. Once you've confirmed everything works, you cancel the Wix plan and the monthly bill ends.
Wix questions
Can I export my Wix website myself?
No. Wix has no site export feature, and its help center says so plainly. You can pull blog text through RSS and download your uploaded images, but pages, layout, and design cannot leave the platform. Rebuilding is the only way off, whoever does it.
My domain is registered through Wix. Do I lose it?
No. The domain is yours. We can point it at the new site while it stays registered at Wix, or help you transfer it to a standard registrar (Wix allows transfers after the first 60 days). Either way, your web address doesn't change.
Will my site go down during the move?
No. Your Wix site keeps running while we build the clone. The switch is a DNS change that happens only after you approve the new site, and we recommend keeping Wix active for one extra billing cycle as a safety net.
What about my Wix contact form?
The clone includes a contact form that emails you, so inquiries keep arriving. What a static site can't replace is software like Wix Stores, Bookings, or member logins. If your site depends on those, tell us and we'll say honestly whether the clone makes sense for you.
