Squarespace just raised prices again

On July 6, 2026, Squarespace raised prices on its most popular plans by as much as 26%, with no announcement. The Core plan went from $23 to $29 a month on annual billing. That followed a 2025 overhaul that replaced the whole plan lineup at roughly 28 to 33% higher entry prices. One documented subscriber went from $216 a year in 2021 to $348 in 2026 for the same site.

This is the pattern with every subscription builder: the price is whatever it is this year, and you find out next year's price when it renews. Five years of Core at today's rate is about $1,740. What Squarespace's export actually contains

Squarespace does offer an export, which sounds reassuring until you open it. It's an XML file designed for importing into WordPress, and it carries:

• Blog posts and basic page text
• Text and embed blocks from standard pages

What it leaves behind is the part you'd actually miss: your design, your custom CSS and fonts, your navigation, gallery and album pages, product and event pages, and your forms. Even the images aren't included; the file just contains links pointing back to Squarespace's servers. And if your site runs on version 7.1, export options are narrower still.

In other words, the export is your words in a box. The website itself has to be rebuilt, which is exactly what we do, pixel for pixel.

How we get you off Squarespace

2. We clone the site by hand

   An exact one-to-one copy as plain HTML: your layout, your typography, your words, your photos. Squarespace designs tend to be typography-heavy, and we match them closely enough that you shouldn't be able to tell the two apart.

3. You compare them side by side

   Private preview link, honest feedback, two rounds of changes included.

4. We switch your domain, then you cancel

   We point your domain at the new site, handle the security certificate, and redirect every old page address so your Google rankings carry over. Then you cancel Squarespace and the bill stops.

Squarespace questions

Doesn't the export mean I can leave whenever I want?

Only in the narrow sense that your text can leave. The export contains no design, no images, and none of your page structure beyond basic pages and blog posts. Restoring your actual site from it is impossible; it has to be rebuilt by hand.

My domain and email are through Squarespace. What happens to them?

The domain is yours and your address doesn't change. We point it at the new site, or help you transfer it to a standard registrar where renewal is usually cheaper. If you use Google Workspace email through Squarespace, it keeps working; email lives on your domain, not on your website plan.

I'm on Squarespace 7.1. Does that change anything?

Not for us. Version 7.1's export limits matter if you're trying to move to WordPress yourself. We clone from your live site, not from the export file, so what version you're on doesn't affect the rebuild.

What about my Squarespace forms and appointment scheduling?

The clone includes a contact form that emails you. Scheduling tools like Acuity are software and don't carry over to a static site, though a booking link to an outside service can. Tell us what your site uses and we'll say honestly what carries over and what doesn't.
